We know what you’re thinking. Can’t wait until move-in? We’re not so patient either. That’s why we created a list of only the most important need-to-knows for your upcoming move.

COVID-19 UPDATE

What should I expect on move-in day?

  • The CDC recommends face coverings indoors in certain counties with high community levels of COVID. This information is updated weekly at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html. If our location is within a county with a high community level on the day of move-in, we will recommend that residents and visitors wear a mask while in indoor community spaces.
  • Let us know if you are not feeling well and need to delay your move-in. Your health and safety, and that of all our residents, are our top priorities.

MOVE-IN AND FIRST PAYMENT

We love that you already have move-in marked in your calendar for August 18, 2023. And to show our appreciation, we’ve compiled important information you’ll need to know. Sure, we’re asking you to read about late charges and paperwork, but it doesn’t make our gratitude less real.

When you arrive at Lark Austin for move-in, please follow the signs to check in and pick up the keys to your new home. You’ll want to read the details in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE section below so you know the scheduled move-in times by floor.

If you want to avoid late charges (and who doesn’t?), you’ll want to make sure that your first installment, along with any administrative fees not yet paid, are paid by August 1, 2021. Late charges will apply unless we have received the first installment payment within the two-day grace period (by August 3, 2021). Checks or money orders should be made payable to Lark Austin and can be mailed or brought directly to our office.

You can also pay online through the resident portal using a debit card, credit card or electronic checking transfer, or by automatic recurring charge to your debit card, credit card or bank account. There are no fees when paying from your bank account or by check.

GUARANTOR FORM OR PRE-PAYMENT

Class hasn’t even started yet and we’re already talking about paperwork. Lucky for you, this won’t be graded.

Nothing ruins move-in faster than missing paperwork (trust us). If you haven’t done so already, please submit your guarantor form. We’ll need to approve this before you’re able to move-in. No guarantor? Sign up with Leap by selecting this option on your application or by calling our office today. Alternately, you will be required to prepay the final two installments in advance in order to move in, as described in your Housing Agreement.

UTILITIES

Lucky for you, electricity, water and Internet are included in your rental installment so don’t sweat, we’ll make sure the lights are on.

RENTER’S LIABILITY INSURANCE

It’s probably not something you normally think about, but you are required to have at least $100,000 of liability protection by the time you move in, and throughout your stay with us. This doesn’t cost much, and is designed to protect you if you accidentally cause a fire or flood. As unlikely as that sounds, if something happens, you’ll be very glad to have it. How easy have we made it to take care of this requirement? You don’t have to do anything at all; we’ll automatically charge your account $12 per installment, waive the requirement to provide separate insurance, and buy our own insurance to cover the same risks. If you have your own liability insurance and don’t want to be charged for this, please upload your insurance certificate and we’ll let you know right away if it meets the requirements. EXPRESS CHECK-IN

To show you how glad we are that you’re here, we have a special just-for-you perk: express check-in, AKA the key to beating long lines on move-in day.

To get on the fast track for check-in, click here for the resident portal link and register online. From here, you’ll want to make sure you can answer yes to each of the questions below:

  • Did you make your first installment payment?
  • Did you enter your vehicle information (if applicable)?
  • Did you sign any pending documents?

If you answered yes to all of the above, you’re one step closer to your new home. Besides that, all you need to bring with you is a valid photo ID (and an appetite—we’ll have snacks waiting for you). Contact us if you have any questions.

Bringing a four-legged friend? Please be sure to let us know by clicking here so all of your documents are fully signed before move-in. We will need to know the type of animal, breed, and weight in order to send you the pet addendum. In order for your fur fam to officially join our community, we require a signed pet addendum and consent from roommates (if applicable).

MOVE-IN SCHEDULE (required)

Moving is stressful enough. We’re here to help make your move-in easy and seamless. Lark Austin has partnered with the nation’s largest professional student move-in company to help make your move-in experience a breeze. So sit back, relax and let USS Cruise Ship Move-in™ do the heavy lifting for you.

USS will be conducting their exclusive Cruise Ship Move-in™; a process created and developed to make your move in day easy and memorable. USS Cruise Ship Move-in™ service mimics the experience of taking a cruise where your belongings effortlessly appear in your room. You won’t have to touch a thing or even leave the car. Nice, right? Just arrive at your assigned time, and the professional movers will unload your car and transport your belongings to your new home.

In order for Cruise Ship Move-in™ service to run smoothly, you are required to arrive at your scheduled move-in time based on what floor you will be moving into. Your cooperation will allow us to avoid overcrowding and long wait times for elevators… because why would you want to be delayed? Please note that we cannot allow early arrivals on move-in day. Arrive on-time to reduce your wait time, both in the car and in your room. The faster you move in, the faster you’ll be catching rays on our pool deck.

Please reference your apartment number to see which floor you are assigned to, the first digit(s) indicating your floor number… (Ex: Apt#1801 = Floor 18).

MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE

  • Arrive at your assigned time – you’re getting VIP treatment here, take advantage of it!
  • If you are arriving in multiple vehicles, have all your belongings together as only one vehicle is allowed in the VIP Lane. Our Check-in tent will be located at the corner of 22nd and Nueces.
  • The driver will need to stay in his/her seat. When the last item is removed, the car will need to be moved to one of the two following parking options:
    • OPTION 1: Pre-Leased on-site parking in the Lark Austin Garage.
    • OPTION 2: Park in one of the pay-to-park areas on the map below.
  • USS will unload each car in less than 4 minutes, and handle placing your tagged belongings in your room; there is no need to get out of the car. We will sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to.
  • If you have a bike, please bring that separately after you park your vehicle.
  • Don’t over-load boxes; go ahead and pack multiple boxes, we don’t limit the number of items (looks like those extra pairs of shoes are making the cut).
  • The movers cannot move items out of your bedroom – if you bring it, it must fit in your room.
  • There is no need to tip – Lark Austin has covered all your moving expenses. Just (one of the many) an added perk for living with us!
  • Most importantly – clearly label each box with your name, floor, room number and cell phone number… We promise this will make life easier for you in the end.

In order to ensure everyone has a smooth move-in experience, please be sure to follow the check-in times in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE section above. We encourage you to show up during these times so you can take advantage of this VIP treatment.

However, if you need to move-in outside of your provided time, please remember that our cruise ship move-in team will not be able to assist anyone with unloading items. We will have large bins available to sign out in order to bring your belongings to your room. All residents moving in during the assigned time slots will be moved in first as part of the EXPRESS CHECK-IN experience. We really don’t want you to have to wait in line… that pool will be calling your name, so please take advantage of this service we are providing for you so that you can have the best move-in experience possible.

What you take with you matters. And to help you get a jumpstart on moving, we’ve put together a master packing list for you. Quite simply, you’ll find everything you need. And nothing you don’t.
